This is still a work in progress as I upload tasting notes and wine labels from as far as 1999... Check back once in a while to get the updates.

First bottle decanted

1984 Cos d'Estournel - opened after dinner at home.  First try with an old wine and use of decanter.  Smooth at first, but became very tannic as time went on.  Poor vintage.  Bought at Watson's for HKD 448.

The start of the journey

Today I started my journey in wine appreciation.  I consciously tried to taste the wines I was drinking and started taking notes.  I hope this is a journey that would take me to many interesting destinations...

1993 Ducru-Beaucaillou - opened at home after dinner.  My first Ducru in quite a while.  Very soft and smooth tannins.  Finish a bit short.  With breathing the spicy aromas came out. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.  Bought from Watson's for HKD 475.

1995 Le Dauphin du Chateau Guiraud - my first experience with Sauternes.  Smell of acetone was strong, a bit unpleasant for the uninitiated.  Also smells of moss, pear, vanilla and oak.

Note to self:  always make sure you end with the best wine, not start with it!
