Sylvain Pataille Marsannay
Drinking at home.
2017 Sylvain Pataille Marsannay - fragrant nose of leather, with toasty and nutty notes, almost a hint of coffee, black cherries, mint and eucalyptus. Sooo fragrant some 2 hours after opening.

2009 pinot and more
Dinner at Andō.
Egly-Ouriet Les Vignes de Vrigny, dégorgée en juillet 2021 - pretty nice, lovely and toasty nose. Good balance with some acidity, which is noticeable but not too sharp.
2019 Moron-Garcia Marsannay Clos du Roy - decanted for 30 minutes before back in bottle, and decanted a second time 1 hour after initial opening. Very sweet on the nose like candy, very fruity, a little oak, with some dried herbs. Improved a little after 15 minutes, and showed even better after another 1-2 hours. This wine needed time.
2009 Gantenbein Pinot Noir - showing pretty nicely after about 30 minutes in the decanter. Nice and fragrant, a little woodsy, but kinda unstable on the finish. Second pour about 1 hour in was showing more leather and animal, and after 1½ hour in the decanter the nose was big and toasty. Damn nice, even if the palate couldn't keep up all the way.
2005 Lucien Le Moine Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes - served more than an hour after decanting. A little eucalyptus on top of some toasty notes. Tannins were till kinda grippy.
2009 Lucien Le Moine Clos de Vougeot - served 1½ hours after decanting. A little eucalyptus on the nose but more muted than expected. Pretty smooth on the palate but kinda flat. After more than 3 hours in the decanter this showed more body. Kinda disappointing.
2009 Jean Grivot Clos de Vougeot - served 1½ hours after decanting. This came with a huge toasty nose, and I definitely did not expect this to overpower the Lucien Le Moine.

2020 Avani Amrit Pinot Gris - reductive nose. Definitely a little flinty.
2018 Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Rosé Fleur de Pinot - flinty with minerals, with nice red fruits.
2017 Avani Syrah The Earth - really fragrant and floral, lots of violets and eucalyptus. Not your box standard Aussie shiraz and reminds me of Giaconda's syrah. Beautiful.

El cheapo Burgs
Dinner at Guo Fu Lou.
1999 Coche-Dury Meursault - very heavy nose of toast, roasted corn, a little lemon citrus. No surprises here... but I love it.
2011 Cecile Tremblay Bourgogne La Croix Blanche - really fragrant nose, sweet, a little bubblegum, very ripe, definitely minty and eucalyptus. Later on the nose became super-bubblegum.
2009 Charles Audoin Marsannay Clos du Roy - very alcoholic on the nose, with dried herbs, cool but pretty sweet fruit. A little pungent on the nose and a little bitter on the palate. Made me wonder if this was fermented with stems. This opened up a little further and then somehow the palate died and became yucky...
2000 Anne Gros Clos-Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui - pretty sweet, with nose of dried herbs and cedar, a little ripe. Very nice.
2010 Hospices de Beaune Beaune 1er Cru Cuvée Rousseau-Deslandes par Champy - nose of cedar, nice and ripe, pretty sweet, so fragrant on the palate, with exotic spices and a little forest.
