Wines with UNO
Drinking at a friend's home.
2015 Maison Leroy Bourgogne - tasted a couple of hours after aerating. Nice and fruity, jammy, and a little plummy.
2005 Kongsgaard Syrah - drank almost 2½ hours after opening. Very ripe, sweet, and jammy on the nose. Lovely nose of leather and mint. Sooooo fragrant. Fantastic!
Bought from the winery for USD 150 plus tax.
1999 Avignonesi Vin Santo di Montepulciano Occhio di Pernice - this was really thick and viscous, like pouring syrup into a glass. Nose showing smoky, nutty, honey, and medjool dates. Lovely.
2019 Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes - a little pungent on the nose, with some exotic spices.

Peyre Rose and more
Dinner at the Amex Centurion Gala.
Ruinart Blanc de Blancs - decent acidity on the palate, not as bland as I remembered from drinking many bottles. The nose was actually perfumed, and it wasn't even from the room.
2021 Alain Chavy Bourgogne Chardonnay - some elegant toasty notes on the nose, with a bit of lemon. Interesting that it almost smelled like Champagne.
2021 Coudoulet de Beaucastel - initially the nose seemed a little chalky, but this faded and the nose was almost a little floral.
Drinks at Roucou.
2013 Peyre Rose Les Cistes - this was reall fragrant, a little pungent with earthy tones. A little bongwater-like but I loved the sweet and ripe fruit as well as those floral notes. I could still feel the tannins on the palate a little bit. Later on this showed minty and really nice, toasty notes, and something that wasn't quite coffee-like, but this was so nice.

2022 Felettig
Dinner at Henry for the collaboration with Born and Bred.
2022 Felettig Bourgogne Pinot Noir - initially the nose wasn't very open. The palate was still kinda tannic since the wine was young. Later there were notes of leather and blueberries, then a bit of dried herbs and eucalyptus with more aeration.

Bourgogne and more
Lunch at Mosu.
2015 Bollinger La Grande Année, dégorgée en Octobre 2023 - first sip delivered a dose of high acidity, but the palate also had some roundness. Some toasty notes on the nose.
Gonin Musume Shizen No Manma (五人娘 自然のまんま) - seimaibuai of 70%. Showing lots of savory fermented notes on the nose initially, but so sweet on the palate like Chinese fermented rice lees. Soon after the nose changed and showed tons of caramel, toffee, or dulce de leche. Very fruity with a bit of citrus, and also like Japanese konpeito.
2017 Coche-Dury Bourgogne Chardonnay - initially the nose was not very open despite having been decanted, showing only a little citrus and a hint of green apple. Acidity showing on the palate, and there was some ripeness on the palate with the oak. But totally not what I had expected.
2018 Domaine de la Roseraie Bourgogne Senex - showing animal notes, lots of eucalyptus, dried herbs, big and toasty, and a little farmy that made me think of natural wines. Pretty fragrant.
2022 François Villard Crozes-Hermitage Cour de Récré - this was a lot more fruity on the nose than I had expected, with some acetone. What was really interesting was that it almost started to smell like Oolong tea!
2022 Keller Sylvaner Feuervogel - big nose of petrol, flint, and muscat grapes. Good and crisp acidity.
2015 Bressan Schioppettino - this was really fragrant with tons of herbs, like a chinotto, but also a little savory. This was very, very lovely.

Thiriet and Gros
Lunch at Racines.
Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs - very toasty nose.
2021 Camille Thiriet Bourgogne Chardonnay Cuvée Confidentielle - the nose showed lots of flint and especially tropical and stone fruits, very fragrant. Very light and refreshing.
2020 Gros CH et Fils Aloxe-Corton - a bit of smoke on the nose with ripe and sweet fruit like black cherries. Still plenty of tannins here but the acidity balance was quite nice.

Free corkage for 5
Dinner at Sagrantino. Going for the last time.
2003 Pazo de Señorâns Selección de Añada - surprisingly nice acidity after all these years. The nose was nice showing how it developed with age, without showing oxidation or caramelization. There was a nice fragrance with toasty oak and notes of honey along with some ripeness. The acidity on the palate, though, was still there with some tartness on the finish. After about 2 hours the wine showed some metallic notes on the nose.
Bought from Links for HKD 488.
2022 Les Fauvettes De l'Aube à l'Aube - this was definitely bongwater. Nose of ripe and sweet strawberries, a little farmy and bretty but on the sweet side, not really savory. Later on we also had blueberries on the nose.
1970 Penfolds Dalwood Hermitage - started drinking around 1 hour after opening. Nose was very savory as expected, a little bretty, animal, with plenty of soy sauce. About 3 hours in this was so, so bretty.
Laherte Les Longue Voyes, dégorgée en Decembre 2021 - nice and caramelized on the nose.
Bought from Altaya for HKD 555.
2019 Chanterêves Bourgogne Aligoté Les Chagniots - toasty nose with some ripeness. There was some acidity on the palate along with buttery notes.

Mix bag of not-so-cheap
Dinner at a private dining facility.
2004 Krug, ID 214041 - drinking very nicely, with good maturity now and also good acidity balance.
Laherte Rosé de Meunier, dégorgée Juillet 2021 - so easy to drink, so smooth. Love the vibrant red fruits.
2001 Kracher Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese No. 9 Zwischen den Seen, from half-bottle - really viscous, grapey and raisins. So rich and unctuous. Like honey and dates.
Henri Guiraud PR90-18, dégorgée 14 Janvier 2022 - decent acidity balance here.
2018 Rougeot Bourgogne Blanc Clos des Six Ouvrées - decent acidity but there is also ripeness. Lots of vanilla oak on the nose.
2018 Domaine du Bel-Air Bourgueil "Grand-Mont" - nose of animal and leather. Nice and oaky.

Ponsot and Psi
Dinner at the Hong Kong Club.
Nicolas Feuillatte Réserve Exclusive Brut - a bit flinty on the nose. Easy drinking.
2016 Ponsot Bourgogne Cuvée du Perce-Neige, en magnum - this was pretty ripe on the palate already, and certainly very rounded. A little bitter.
2020 Psi, from magnum - served about an hour after opening. Very nice and aromatic on the nose, with lots of potpourri and spices, along with sweet vanilla. Drinking really well for a wine so young.
2000 Marcel Deiss Gewurztraminer Sélection des Grains Nobles - the nose was soooo floral, so much lychee, even though the latter was very much expected. Concentrated grapes, honey, and pollen on the nose, and surprisingly almost a little ground pepper.

Krug and Lucien Le Moine
Lunch at MONO.
Krug Grande Cuvée, 171éme édition, ID 122009 - prominent acidity, not as ripe but also not too lean thanks to the acidity. Lemon citrus on the nose.
2019 Lucien Le Moine Bourgogne Blanc - sooooo buttery and vanilla on the nose, sooooo beautiful! Good acidity, too.
2020 Bættig Pinot Noir Los Parientes - sweet on the palate, sweet fruit but somehow also a little dusty on the nose. Toasty notess.

Full post on lunch is here.
2012 Cazals La Chapelle du Clos, en magnum - good acidity and ripeness balance. Some flint on the nose.
2004 Blankiet Cabernet Sauvignon Paradise Hills Vineyard - drank 30 minutes after decanting. Lots of wood, plenty of sweet cassis, smoky, cedar. Very fragrant and floral.
