82 Latour a Pomerol and Les Pavots
Dinner at Wagyumafia.
Sharaku Junmai Ginjo (寫楽 純米吟醸), R5BY - seimaibuai of 50%. The nose showed a lot of musk melon and banana, along with a very sweet, starchy rice profile.
Hakuryu Shin (白龍 真) - a little fruity with some lactic acid on the palate. Also showed starchy, fermented rice notes.
1982 Latour à Pomerol - started drinking 30 minutes after decanting. Initially this was only so-so, perhaps the wine was a little tired? Showing earthy notes without too much sweetness, maybe the nose had a hint of stewed fruits. Later on the wine opened up to reveal smoky and leather notes, and now was showing itself to be an old claret. Finished the wine about 1½ hours after decanting, and it still wasn't showing much sweet fruit.
Bought from Sotheby's for HKD 2,246.
2007 Peter Michael Les Pavots - decanted about an hour after opening, and started drinking 30 minutes after decanting. Initially the wine wasn't very open and needed to wake up in glass. It was sweeter on the palate for sure, showing its character as a Californian, but not to the point of being ripe or jammy despite being from a stellar vintage.
Bought from Altaya for HKD 1,320.

2007 L'Esprit des Pavots
Drinking at home.
2007 Peter Michael L'Esprit des Pavots - drank 30 minutes after decanting. Nose seemed concentrated, with a little ripeness but not quite cooked fruit. Plenty of Asian spices and new oak on the nose. Palate was more refined and silky than expected. After one hour in the decanter the nose was even more fragrant with dried herbs, potpourri, and definitely sweet fruit but not overripe or jammy. About 2 hours after decanting this hit a plateau, not getting better but also not falling apart. Still kinda OK after 3½ hours.

Peter Michael and SQN
Lunch at Mian.
2008 Peter Michael Chardonnay Point Rouge - lots of sugar cane, very caramelized and oxidized, sweet with notes of straw. Very ripe and sweet, and very buttery on the palate.
2007 Sine Qua Non Body and Soul - 71% roussanne and 29% viognier. Flinty, tropical, also sweet and caramelized but not quite sugar cane. Notes of straw. Ripe and buttery on the palate.

Franco-American night
Dinner at Ecriture.
1998 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs La Réserve, dégorgée en juillet 2016 - very toasty, fragrant, and nutty.
2013 Peter Michael Chardonnay Mon Plaisir - overripe and bitter on the palate. Not happy about this.
2012 Botanica Pinot Noir - very fragrant and elegant, with ripe fruit but not jammy. Some spices here, and almost a little bubblegum.
1986 Cos d'Estournel - served 2 hours after opening. Classic, aged claret. Very soft and smoky, slightly medicinal/brett, grassy, leather, stewed black fruits, and matured wood on the nose.. Pretty decent and not bad at all.

Cristal, Clos Ste Hune
Drinking at a friend's home.
2005 Louis Roederer Cristal - floral nose. Easy to drink, but otherwise unremarkable.
Dinner at The Naked Finn in Singapore.
1996 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune - such a classic dry riesling, with petrol, flint, and lemon notes. Very good depth of flavor here. Beautiful!
2013 Peter Michael Chardonnay 'Mon Plaisir' - very sweet nose, with plenty of tropical stone fruits and vanilla. So buttery and fragrant.

1988 Peter Michael Les Pavots
Drinking at home.
1988 Peter Michael Les Pavots - double decanted but this didn't open up more at least 1½ hours. This was still very concentrated and dark despite having 12 years on it. There was fruit of course, plus a bit of coffee, green peppers. A bit disappointing to me, but again this was the first vintage.
