Egon Múller dinner
Dinner at Palco with wines from Egon Müller, organized by ORD Fine Wines.
2021 Château Belá Štúrovo Riesling - nice, classic nose of petrol and white truffle. A little sweetish on the palate but still got the acidity.
2023 Le Gallais Wiltinger Braune Kupp Kabinett - classic nose with polyurethane and white flowers, a hint of honey, and more elegant. Good acidity on the palate making it more crisp, but also a little more grippy.
2022 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett - this was bigger on the nose, with more flint and petrol. So fragrant and lovely.
2023 Le Gallais Wiltinger Braune Kupp Spätlese - very nice, sweeter on the palate than the kabinett, of course... with some acidity for balance.
2022 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese - this was sooo floral, soooo alluring. Pretty sweet on the palate now. These days auslese are made with 100% botrytis grapes thanks to climate change.
2019 Château Belá Rulanské Modré - the nose was sooooo sugary, and actually a bit sharp and definitely a bit overripe and oxidized. Not great.
2017 Château Belá Cabernet Sauvignon - minty and fragrant nose, with a little bit of pepper and nice fruit that was kinda ripe.
1989 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Beerenauslese - honey and marmalade notes on the nose. Nice and viscous on the palate, but this was kinda weak mid-palate. The finish was long and nice.

Bongwater from Vlad
Dinner at Gaggan Anand in Bangkok.
2015 Olivier Horiot Sève Rosé de Saignée en Barmont Les Riceys, dégorgée le 28 Mars 2022 - a nice rosé with decent red fruit notes, but palate was a little flat and short.
2018 Vodopivec Solo - initially servd a little too warm. Got good mouthfeel with grippy "tannins".
2018 Slobodné Majer Zemianske Sady Partisan Cru - still got the fruit. OK la...
Akishika 888 Junmai Muroka Nama (秋鹿 八八八 純米無濾過 生原酒), 2018 - seimaibuai of 80%. Very fermented and savory notes, a bit sweet on the finish. Definitely paired well with the caviar and also tomato. More rounded on the palate than I remembered from a few months ago.
2017 La Tangente L'Excuse - smoky, a little eucalyptus, a little meaty with leather notes.
2019 Čotar Sauvignon Blanc - very fragrant nose and a little floral.
La Grapperie La Désirée - the nose was pretty fragrant but also pretty oaky, almost buttery like a chardonnay from Burgundy. Almost vanilla, too. But this paired sooo horribly with the fish and made the aftertaste very... fishy.
2018 Stephan Côte-Rôtie Côteaux de Bassenon - really nice vanilla and fruit on the nose, along with eucalyptus. Love this wine.
2022 Meinklang Prosa - definitely got a little of that pungent sulfur on the nose, but also pretty sweet on the nose.

Egon Müller TBA and more
Wine dinner featuring the wines of Egon Müller at One Harbour Road, with Egon Müller IV in attendance.
2015 Kanta Riesling Balhannah Vineyard - dryish with polyurethane notes.
2012 Château Belá Riesling - much sweeter, thicker on the tongue. More floral.
2018 Egon Müller Scharzhof Riesling - very crisp and refreshing. Definitely flinty, with a hint of ripeness. Good acidity balance.
2018 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Kabinett, from 6L - too cold at first, but definitely white flowers. Lovely sweetness and ripeness, and so fragrant in the mouth. Wonderful flint and mineral notes.
2018 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Spätlese - more fragrant and elegant. Obviously sweeter than the kabinett. Still polyurethane and flint, with white flowers. Rounder on the palate.
2018 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Auslese - leaner, more depth on the palate, with a higher sweetness level but also a little bitterness.
2007 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Trockenbeerenauslese - the family reserve that is not commercially released. Really, really viscous... just rolling it around the tongue in the mouth didn't seem release enough saliva to dilute it. Lots of sugar here but also a strong dose of acidity at the same time. Definitely marmalade, candied kumquat, and orange blossom water.
