1982 Lynch-Bages

Dinner at Victoria Seafood.

1982 Lynch-Bages - pretty good, typical Bordeaux, but not stunning. Had 3 bottles.

Valentine's Day dinner at Brasserie on the Eighth.

1989 Beaucastel - this was not such a good choice today.

97 Dead Arm

Dinner at home.

1997 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm - pretty disappointed. I guess it's just not ready and it didn't breathe enough. Extremely tannic, concentrated. The 14.5% alcohol really showed up in the nose. The fruit core was hidden in heavy oak, smoke, grilled meat. Definitely needs a few more years.

Bought from Watson's for HKD 299.

1990 Stonewell

Dinner at home.

1990 Peter Lehmann Shiraz Stonewell - this was the first bottle of the '90 that I really liked. The typical nose of Aussie shiraz, and especially Stonewell, really came out. Raspberries, oak, slight hint of pepper, good sweetness in the nose. Medium to full bodied. Pretty nice!

Bought from Manly for HKD 520.

1996 Ramonet Boudriotte

Drinking at home in Taipei.

1996 Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Boudriotte Blanc - pretty good! Typical chardonnay with nose of lemon citrus, minerals, toasty oak, and buttery, creamy sweet corn. Good balance of acidity with slight sweetness on the after palate.

2000 Juveniles

Dinner at Long Wah.

2000 Torbreck Juveniles - this wine needs a lot of air time. When we started drinking it, it was too acidic. Typical syrah with berries, blood, minerals, and violet typical of a Côte-Rôtie. A bit disappointing (actually, very). Got a bit better towards the end.

Bought from Watson's for HKD 148.
