Bordeaux and Pinot happy hour

Drinks at Watson's Wine Cellars.

2011 Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir East Ridge - very fruity and sweet, jammy, cherries, eucalyptus.  Acidity on the palate was higher than expected.

2013 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing - more oaky and fragrant nose, but also shows more pungent sulfur.

2011 Drouhin-Laroze Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint Jacques - nice red fruits on the nose, with a little sulfur.  Astringent on the palate.

1989 Beychevelle - decanted.  Very classic claret, showing smoky, earthy notes, with cedar and coffee.  Mature and smooth on the palate.

2006 La Gravette de Certan - more minty notes, fruity and oaky.

2010 La Dame de Montrose - smoky and a little earthy.

2004 Pichon-Lalande - forest and pine needle, minty, a little bit of animal and a hint of smoke.

2005 Haut-Bailly en magnum - ripe and sweet, with smoky and forest notes.

2007 Kapcsándy Estate Cuvée - 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot.  Good ripe fruit on the nose.

2010 d'Armailhac - very classic, with lots of smoke and cedar notes.  Beautiful.

2013 Joh.Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese - good balance of sweetness and acidity here.  Some pungent notes on top of Anjou pear.

Dinner at Xia Fei Society Shanghainese Cuisine.

2004 Alter Ego de Palmer - a little smoky and slightly sweet on the palate.
